Hocking Hills Geodomes: What is it Like to Stay Here?
With our lives being so busy with our three boys, it’s amazing how fast our 10th wedding anniversary snuck up on us! We had always thought we would return to Aruba, where we got married, for our 10th wedding anniversary. But we quickly realized that wouldn’t be feasible this year with so much going on. So, I started looking into unique places to stay in Ohio, and I came across Hocking Hills Geodomes!
I thought this sounded perfect for our anniversary getaway. We would be close to home, but still be able to unwind, relax, and make great memories to look back on. I ran the idea past my husband, who thought it sounded just as amazing as I did…and we booked it for three nights! All About this Hocking Hills Geodome
Where are the geodomes located?
These Hocking Hills Geodomes are located at the Inn & Spa at Cedar Falls, a bed and breakfast in the heart of Hocking Hills State Park in Logan, Ohio. And the best way to describe them? Hocking Hills glamping at its finest!
The Inn & Spa at Cedar Falls has 3 geodomes that can each accommodate two people. Each geodome is tucked into the trees, surrounded by nature. You can book a stay at the geodomes year-round, costing around $350 per night (give or take). Your stay includes breakfast each morning. And the geodomes are just a short walk away from the bed and breakfast’s restaurant.
Children under 12 years old and pets are not allowed to stay in the geodome due to the fragile nature of its construction. If you’re looking for places to stay as a family or you want to bring your puppy along, the Inn & Spa at Cedar Falls also offers other accommodations. You can find plenty of other unique lodging in the area as well.
What are the Hocking Hills Geodomes like?
Near the geodomes, you’ll find a small parking lot and a short path that takes you to the geodomes. The Inn & Spa at Cedar Falls provides a small cart to help you get your luggage to your geodome if needed.
Outside the geodome, there’s a small deck with a table and two Adirondack chairs. But the real magic happens once you enter the geodome! Immediately upon entering, you’ll see a small kitchenette, complete with retro-style appliances and butcher block shelving. When you look just past the kitchenette, the expansive viewing window will blow your mind! The viewing window is the star of the Hocking Hills Geodomes.
After you take in the view for a minute (or more!), you’ll finally look around for a second and see that the geodome has a king-size bed, a couch with a coffee table, and a small dining table with two chairs. For privacy, there’s a huge curtain to cover the viewing window.
Around the corner, the bathroom has a contemporary yet comfortable feel: a pebble shower floor, exposed metal piping to hang your towels, an open vanity to store your toiletries, and two cozy robes. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, makeup remover wipes, a hair dryer, and towels are all provided.
Most importantly (for me at least!), there was indoor plumbing, air conditioning, and heating. There was even free Wi-Fi, which was nice to have so we could video chat with our boys back home.
Tip: we didn’t have cell service during our time at Hocking Hills State Park, so make sure you download offline maps if you’d like to use that to get around the area. This was another reason the free Wi-Fi came in handy!
I won’t sit here and act like I’m into camping…glamping is MUCH more my style! The Hocking Hills Geodomes had all the comforts of a hotel, but with an amazing view. It was one of the most unique places I’ve ever stayed, and I would stay there again without a doubt.
Other Things to Love About the Inn & Spa at Cedar Falls
Grounds
The grounds of this bed and breakfast are very serene. The main log cabins on the property that house the restaurant, gift shop, and check-in were built in the 1840s. The backdrop to the log cabins includes gardens (one is actually on a rooftop), hammocks, and a fire pit. No matter where you are on the property, you’re surrounded by nature. It’s absolutely beautiful…and very relaxing!
The Spa at Cedar Falls
Speaking of relaxing, you can head over to the spa on the property, which offers a range of services. Whether you’re looking for a massage, facial, or body treatment, you’ll find it here. You can book an individual service or several services. They even offer a half-day spa package if you’re really looking to relax and rejuvenate!
Make sure to book your service in advance to ensure the type of service and time you want. Although they did have a couple of services available to book during our trip, the times were limited since we didn’t book in advance. You can book your reservation online or by calling the Inn & Spa at Cedar Falls, so you don’t miss out on some spa time as I did!
Restaurant at Inn & Spa at Cedar Falls – Kindred Spirits
The Inn & Spa at Cedar Falls has one restaurant, Kindred Spirits, which is described as casual fine dining. The menu changes seasonally and can be found on their website, so you can take a look before you even arrive.
The restaurant is located in the 1840s log cabins at the front of the property. It is quaint and cozy, only seating 45 people separated out among several rooms. Each room is only big enough to fit a few tables. While there are some tables that accommodate larger families, most tables only seat 2-4 people.
Most people you see there will be dressed casually (especially during breakfast and lunch). However, you may see some dressed up, especially if they’re celebrating a special occasion. You really can’t go wrong when you choose an outfit to wear to a meal there. For breakfast each morning, we wore our hiking clothes. For dinner, we dressed casually but nicely.
Breakfast
Breakfast is served daily and is included in your stay. But others are welcome to have breakfast there as well, so booking breakfast reservations is important. To make breakfast reservations, just give them a call.
The breakfast consists of fruit, yogurt, granola, and an entrée. My husband and I each tried the pancakes, the traditional breakfast, and the skillet-type breakfast and loved them all. My favorite was the skillet (which was called “The Cure”). But since the menu changes seasonally, you might have totally different choices than we did!
We did pay a little extra for iced coffee each morning. We are parents of 3 little guys after all, and coffee has become a staple each morning of our lives lately!
Lunch
Kindred Spirits serves lunch from Memorial Day through October. In addition to that, the restaurant allows you to purchase brown bag “to-go” lunches year-round, which is perfect to take along with you when you’re out hiking. Lunch reservations are not required unless your party is greater than 6 people.
We did not sit down for lunch during our stay because we were too busy enjoying the amazing hikes nearby! We did, however, order a “to-go” lunch one day.
For our “to go” lunch, we filled out the paper provided and gave it to our waitress at dinner. If you don’t have dinner reservations, you can just pop over to the restaurant to give it to them the night before. We each chose the turkey sandwich with gouda cheese. The lunch also came with chips, an apple, a bottle of water, and a huge brownie. It was a hearty lunch, which was perfect to keep our energy up while out and about.
Dinner
The restaurant is popular in the area (and to be honest, there aren’t a ton of restaurants close by), so dinner reservations are a must. You can make your dinner reservations online or by calling the Inn & Spa at Cedar Falls.
For dinner, I ordered scallops and my husband ordered a steak. Both were cooked well, tasted great, and filled us up! For dessert, we enjoyed the lava cake because, well, I’m a chocoholic! It wasn’t as gooey as I was expecting, but it still took care of my chocolate craving.
With all the meals we had at Kindred Spirits, the portions were large, so leaving hungry was never an issue. To recap: we had three breakfasts, one dinner, and one “to go” lunch at Kindred Spirits during our stay. And we didn’t have one bad bite to eat!
Add-on Pampering
The Inn & Spa at Cedar Falls offers several add-on pampering options when booking your stay. These options include wine, chocolates, flowers, and cheese and crackers. You can even book a couple’s photoshoot if you’re on a romantic getaway in Ohio. The add-on pampering options aren’t just for humans, either. You can actually have a goody bag waiting for your dog, as well!
Since we were celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary on this trip, we opted to have a little extra pampering and purchased the “Wine-n-Cheese” package. This came with a bottle of wine, two wine glasses, and a cheese, cracker, and fruit plate. It lasted us for our whole trip and was a nice way to unwind each night when we returned to the geodome.

While the Hocking Hills Geodomes boast some pretty cool features, if they don’t sound like your thing, the Inn & Spa at Cedar Falls offers several other lodging options. These include luxury cabins, cottages, lodges, and even yurts. Some of the accommodations are pet-friendly or handicap accessible as well.

Things to Do Nearby
Let’s be honest…the real star of the show at Hocking Hills is the hiking! With the majority of this bed and breakfast being surrounded by the Hocking Hills State Park, you can quickly drive to several trailheads when you’re ready to hike.
The Inn & Spa at Cedar Falls is also only about a 45-minute drive from Athens, Ohio, and a 20-minute drive from downtown Logan, Ohio.
We enjoyed checking out nearby wineries and breweries, stargazing at the John Glenn Astronomy Park, and seeing a blown glass demonstration at the Jack Pine Studio.

Hocking Hills not only has lots of glamping options but they’re all done so well! In addition to the Hocking Hills geodome I talked about in this article, there are also yurts, treehouses, shipping containers, a caboose, and more.
How many days should you stay at Hocking Hills?
Ideally, you’ll want at least 2-3 days at Hocking Hills State Park to give yourself time to unplug and enjoy the beauty surrounding you.

I’ll even go out on a limb and say it’s not only the best glamping in Hocking Hills, but it’s also the best glamping in Ohio.
